Day 17: My Choice

So i kind of went in a different direction with this day than I did with my last "my choice" day.......
Today i decided to post about a choice I had to make today, and that was "what was for dinner?"

So here is what we had!

Day 15: Picture of Binders/Textbooks

Here is another post to catch me up to date. Jo was hoping that we would be into the semester when the picture was taken but unfortunately we are not. She here are our binders for the semester. (Books are ordered but not arrived yet)

As you can see we have quite a few binders, because I am taking 7 classes and Jo is taking 6, so we have ALOT of stuff!

Day 14: A Picture of Part of A Car/Truck

So I missed a day, but it is  not entirely my fault. As a lot of you know, the internet hasn't been the best in the dorm here lately..... so here is my make-up post.....

This is a picture of the wheel of my remote control truck..... lol.

enjoy!

Day 11: A Picture of Our Unity Sand

This is a picture of our Unity Sand, which was part of our wedding ceremony...

The little one on the left was a representation of Christ, the larger one was the one we poured the sand into, the next one was the one i poured from, and then the one Jo poured out of.

Day 10: Something That You Eat Today

So today I had to take a picture of my food. Thanks to Nicole Jones for giving us the recipe for this creation....

This my friends, is Mashed Potato Pizza. And it is very yummy..... We use home made mashed potatoes, but instant work just as well... All you do is get a pizza crust, cook it for five minutes flip it, cover it in mashed potatoes, cheese and then bacon, and then bake until it looks like this....

Then it is ready for consumption.... ENJOY!!!!

Day 9: My Choice

Okay, so I thought that the "My Choice" days would be my favorite. Turns out, it is a lot easier to do these types of things when there is direction. I loved being able to just take pictures of whatever I wanted, but not having any guidance on which one to choose to blog about is a different thing. I chose a picture of my class ring. I graduated in 2008 from a little school in the middle of nowhere. Literally. Nowhere. I found this ring while I was helping Jo go through her jewelry box and clean out some of her old jewelry. I decided that I would wear it for the day since it had been so long.

If you are not aware, last year was the last time that school would be held at Bear Grass High School. This does make me sad because I had so many memories there. That is another reason why I chose this picture. It reminded me of all those memories and the fun that I had at BGHS.

Day 8: Shrubbery

All I could think of after reading this challenge were the Knights who say "Ni" and the quest for Camelot.... lol. Well now that I have shared that with you, I will share something else about myself: I love taking pictures of flowers. It is one of my favorite subjects because it freezes it forever in time. When winter comes around, the flower will most likely wilt and die, but not so for a picture. A picture preserves the beauty that a flower has. This is a picture of some "shrubbery" that is on our campus at MACU. Mr. Alligood does a fantastic job of keeping our campus beautiful so here is a picture of his work......

This was a tough photo, since I had a bunch of flowers/shrubbery to choose from here on campus. I chose this because it was the one that most fulfilled the requirements. I think another day has "flower" as its challenge.

Thanks for following me.

Day 7: A Picture of Our House

A picture of our house, which is at the moment, Pressley Hall on the campus of MACU. I liked this challenge because we had a nice thunderstorm approaching when i was out taking the photo. Here is our home, with a storm a brewin' in the background.

Day 6: A Picture of Something In Mid-Air

So for this picture, i tried and tried and tried to get a picture of a water droplet at a fountain in Elizabeth City. After about 20 failed attempts, I decided to try something else.

Thanks to Jo for stepping in and jumping off the fountain ledge, I was able to fulfill todays challenge. This was the first attempt at a jumping photo, and this is the first picture that i took. Incredibly this one turned out to be the best one.

Day 5: A Picture of Docks

Todays challenge was a picture of docks....
There are plenty of these in Elizabeth City and this was a hard choice. Not a hard challenge, but a hard choice between the photos.

And the winner is.................

This is a dock that is actually located in Camden County.... It is right across the bridge in E-City and this was the second time that i have been there. I was torn between these docks and the docks over by COA. These are some of my favorite places in E-City because they are usually not crowded and it is the perfect spot to get away for awhile.

Day 4: A picture of our Rings

Todays photo challenge was a picture of our wedding rings. I have seen some pretty cool pictures before, so i thought i would try my hand at taking a cool photo. So here is my attempt.......

Let me know what you think in the comments.... Ways to improve, other ideas for pictures of rings......

Thanks

Day 3: Something in Black and White

So today one of my best friends from high school got married. She was like a sister to me when we were growing up because my mom was her baby-sitter. She was always at my house and we played together all the time. When we got older, this relationship continued and we became best friends. I got the privilege of attending her wedding. So today my picture is of her in her wedding dress in black and white.

Lauren, you were beautiful and Cody, you are a very lucky man. I wish you two the best and hope that you have an awesome honeymoon and a happy life together!!

Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!

Day 1: A Picture of Us

So today is my first official posting day. "A picture of us." Most people when they try to take a picture of themselves and another person will extend their arm and hope for the best with the camera pointed at them. I chose to use the self timer mode and place my camera on our dresser. You will see many things that define us in this picture........

First off, of course you see us....
Second, all of our books... as we are students, much of our time is spent reading and studying, yes, even in the summertime.
Third, you see a radio on top of the book shelf.... we both love to listen to music.
Fourth, you see the giraffe on the floor looking towards the bed. This is Jo's favorite animal and i love wildlife.

These things happened to be in this picture, which is why i chose this one. I did not plan to capture all these things in one image, but when reviewing them later, i found this one to be the best one that shows "us."

Thanks for reading and looking....... check back tomorrow for my next challenge photo.

Beginning My 365 Project!

For those of you who don't know what a 365 project is, it is where you take a picture a day for a year, therefore making 365 pictures, making it a 365 project. Yesterday I bought a Nikon D90 and along with it came a challenge from Jo, to take a picture a day for a year. She made me a list of things of which i have to take pictures. I will be starting this today, and posting the first picture tomorrow, giving me time to sift through the photos and pick my favorite one. I am looking forward to this project and am hoping that you will enjoy my pictures/posts as well!

So a little bit more about my new camera. It is, as mentioned, a Nikon D90. I bought it with a kit lens, the Nikkor 18-105mm. I have already taken around 80 pictures since last night, just playing around with the different settings and stuff. I am very excited and this was no impulse buy. I have been wanting this camera for around 3 months or longer. I had the money, talked it over with my wife, which is always the best idea, and then made the decision to buy it. I have loved it so far, even though it has been less than a day.

I hope that you enjoy the pictures/posts!

Thanks for reading!
